Hi Antara. The 2004 Madrid train bombings (also known as 3/11 and -in Spanish- as 11-M ) consisted of a series of coordinated terrorist bombings against the commuter train system of Madrid, Spain on the morning of 11 March 2004 (three days before Spain's general elections), killing close to 200 people and wounding more than 2,000. This photo was taken a few days after the attack and shows the candles and flowers that people spontaneously placed outside of the Atocha station, where most of the casualties took place.
